Fisherman’s Prayer

2

Thanks to whoever gave me a little desk plaque that says:

God grant that I may live
to fish until my dying day.
When it comes to my last cast
I then most humbly pray.
When in the Lord’s safe landing net
I’m peacefully asleep, that in
His mercy I be judged
as big enough to keep.

Those simple words are either wise or they just show that I am pretty hard up for a post. (Larry take note.)

Either way I sort of like it and will now put it back on the top shelf of my desk.

Dave, waxing maudlin in his dotage tonight.

I actually made a cloth cross stitch hanging quilt of that prayer many, many years ago and gave it to nana and granddad for Christmas when they still lived half the year at Lake Okoboji. Don’t know what form yours is in or who gave it to you!

waxing maudlin? Hey, you even have a FB presence today!

Well, that probably narrows it down to Laura or Leslie. My version is a little ceramic 3-1/2 x 5 inch stand-up plaque.

Yeah, I finally decided to commit treason and show up briefly on fb, but I was goaded into it.
