Day 13: Faith
14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
–James 2:14-17 (ESV)
I often heard “put your money where your mouth is” back in my poker playing days. In the game of Christian life, the only “game” that has eternal consequences, the ante has been seriously raised. What I need to hear now is “put your actions where your faith is.”
I say I have turned over my life to Jesus Christ. This is a good time to take a good look at my daily routine and make sure it is consistent with my professed faith.

ah…poker playing days? Is there a good story there? Come on, do tell… and oh yeah, faith without works, good thoughts.
Good story? Like the night I got engrossed in a game of five-card stud and someone stole my carbine during war games at Fort Hood?
