Atlantis
Atlantis, Orbital Vehicle-104, is scheduled to lift off on May 14 on the STS-132 mission to the International Space Station. This will represent the final mission for Atlantis, whose maiden voyage was in October, 1985. The wide-angle image above was taken by Ben Cooper as Atlantis was being lifted off the floor of the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center on April 13. Since then it has been assembled and prepared for roll out prior to the launch.
Little did I imagine 25 years ago that events like this would be no longer even newsworthy, but I hope my faith in technology never eclipses my faith in the Creator who made all this fascinating stuff possible.
