It may be Major League Baseball postseason, but when it comes to fall color we still are in the preseason here in Quincy, Illinois. On October 3 I took my camera on my morning walk to collect a few impressions of our preseason fall color.

Give it a couple more weeks and the color should be near peak. Daughter Linda in Cedar Rapids says their trees are near peak color already, and the word is out that this should be a very colorful fall. (Who is it that forecasts such things, anyway?)

I’m quite willing to wait and see the color or non-color unfold day by day.

Yep, it’s gorgeous up here. The yellows and reds are vibrant, definitely a good year for color! Seems like the leaves are falling off sooner though, lots of trees are already bare.

Nice photos…. Quincy is always nice in the Fall. The trees here in St. Louis are about halfway there, not yet peak. In the Ozarks some looked dead, others looked like nice red fall trees with early color. Lots of drought damage it seems.

Thank you, ladies. I intended for the thumbnails to be 3 abreast to save virtual paper, but above is the way they came out. I’ll figure it out one of these days.

It’s almost a week since I posted the pics, but our trees still aren’t cooperating very well. We are getting some pretty stiff breezes, which has given the leaf-fall a kick-start.
